Cherry Hill East Girls Volleyball – Team Rules
The following rules have been set for the Cherry Hill East Volleyball program to ensure our players set a high standard for conduct. They address attendance, effort and conduct detrimental to the team. These rules will be enforced without exception and have been approved by the Athletic Director.
BE RESPECTFUL. BE RESPONSIBLE.
PUT THE TEAM FIRST.
All of the rules below are encompassed in these 3 simple phrases. If you use these words as your guide, you will never have any issues. For specific team policies, please read below.
PERSONAL CONDUCT
All players will conduct themselves in a manner that brings credit and honor to themselves, their teammates and the school.
- Display good sportsmanship at all times. Show respect for teammates, coaches, opponents and officials.
- Never criticize teammates to their faces or behind their backs, on or off the court.
- Do all assignments requested by the coach with full effort.
- Do all therapy prescribed by trainers or physicians.
- Maintain proper sleep and nutrition habits.
- Player issues (problems with another teammate, personal, etc.) will be discussed between the player and coaches FIRST. If the issue is not resolved, further steps will be taken with the athletic director, including parent meetings. Players will be present at all parent meetings.
- Players may ask the coach to schedule a meeting to talk about playing time. However, playing time or coaching lineup decisions will NOT be discussed with parents.
- Drug, alcohol and tobacco use is prohibited. Violations will result in suspension/expulsion from the team.
- All suspensions/punishments will be reviewed by the athletic director.
ACADEMICS
Academics are a priority. Student-athletes will be provided time and space to complete their academic requirements when needed.
- Keep your grades at a level that allows you to stay academically eligible.
- Do all assignments to the best of your ability.
- Do not use cell phones or social media during class.
- Remember the difference between HOMEWORK and STUDYING. You may finish your homework, but there is always studying to be done.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Remember, ALL SOCIAL MEDIA IS PUBLIC (no matter what settings you think you set for your account). Your online presence is a reflection of yourself. Please refrain from posting anything that could be potentially damaging or embarrassing to our team or yourself including photos. Do not put anything on social media that you would not want your family, school administrators, college admissions officers or future employers to see.
- Posting negative comments about teammates, opponents, coaches or referees under any circumstance will result in suspension/expulsion from the team.
- Bullying will not be tolerated and will result in immediate expulsion from the team.
- Offensive language will not be tolerated.
- NO CELL PHONES in the locker room.
- Our primary method of communication will be our Group me app.
TRYOUTS
Players will be evaluated and ranked based on their tryout performance and participation in off-season activities (weight room). Team rosters will be set by the coaching staff. Coaches will provide a written explanation of their tryout evaluation upon request. Club sports will not be considered during the tryout process.
- Attendance is MANDATORY. In order for all players to be evaluated in a fair and consistent manner, returning players will not be excused from tryouts for any reason.
- All players must reach their vertical jump measurements from the previous season during the tryout period.
PRACTICE
Practice will continue Monday-Saturday following tryouts. All players are expected to attend every practice or risk dismissal from the team.
- NO CELL PHONE USE IN THE GYM without the permission of the coach
- For the safety of the players, all practices will be closed practices. NO SPECTATORS will be permitted in the gym during practice, except on designated days or accompanied by the athletic director.
- Be mentally and physically ready to begin practice at the scheduled time (shoes on, taped up, ready to warm-up).
- All players are responsible for court setup before practice and breakdown after practice. Coaches will assign equipment duties to each class.
- Players must attend 96% of all tryouts, practices and games or risk dismissal from the team per rules set by the Athletic Department. If a player will be missing a tryout, practice or game, that player must contact the athletic office or a coach BEFORE the practice.
- Religious observation, academic requirements, illness and family emergencies (determined by the athletic director) are excused. All other absences are unexcused. Each calendar day missed will count as one unexcused absence. The absent player will be subject to the following:

GAMES
All players will attend every home match (Varsity/JV/Freshmen). Players will sit on the bench or in the stands as a team across from the bench (as directed by the coach).
- All players will ride the team bus before and after away games. NO EXCEPTIONS. To be a team, you travel and conduct yourselves as one.
- Players will pay attention to the game when not playing, and be supportive of teammates who are playing (no socializing, doing homework, or cell phone use).
